Dogwood Girl

About

Dogwood Girl is Anne Dunstan Palmer Johnson.

I am a Daughter, Sister, Wife, and Mother of two. That alone is a full-time job in itself.

I’m a native Atlantan. I like to read, write, blog, eat, and run. And eat. I started running, and couldn’t run a mile. Then, somehow, I had finished a very slow half-marathon. I thought about running a Triathlon and then I did it. I amazed myself. I learned that challenging myself is fun, and rewarding. I learned the value of picking things I think I can’t do and then doing them.

I am writing short stories and currently working on a second draft of the “novel” (ahem) that I wrote in November 2008 for National Novel Writing Month, along with three other projects. I am trying to learn to follow through on those. I am a contract writer, usually working on Technical Writing projects, but sometimes doing editing, SEO, or copywriting. Blogging is the writing I do for me, and that helps to keep me sane.

I am a music lover who no longer has the time or money to follow bands and music the way I once did; I try to anyway. Same with gardening. I have grandiose ideas about how my garden will look, and the reality is that I have no time to make it look like it does in my head. I like old shit: Antiques, junk, cemeteries, biographies about dead folks, history, genealogy, and family history. I am a packrat. I hope to some day own a decent camera lens and delve more into Photography, but for the time being, I try to have fun with photography and capture things that make me smile.

Some days I think I am improving. Some days I think I am just treading water.
