  • I started to send you this link the other day but had decided not to. But since it sounds like you’re in a risk-taking mood, more food for thought:

National Novel Writing Month is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing November 1. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30.

  • Thanks, Lyle! I actually sent the link to myself this year. (Todd had sent it to me last year.) Still don’t think I have the time, but one year, I am definitely going to do it.

And i think the only way i could ever do 50,000 words is to TURN OFF THE INTERNET. :-)

  • Annie, I was into the Metro Blogging for ATLANTA. I posted soemthing there about myself as I dod not know how to post on that site. Please read my sotry below and let me know if you have any suggestions for me to get soem temporary help. I am heartbroken my life has taken me where I am now. I don’t do drugs I don’t drink. I am 58 and am just down on our luck right now.
I just wanted to know if someone out there in this wonderful city I grew up in could help us. I was born and raised here. I coudl tell you so many stories about so many things about ATLANTA AND HOW it has changed. It’s so different now. I went to school as Bass High School in Little 5 points. They are now lofts. I went to Elemetary School at HIGHLAND SCHOOL on North Ave.down from MANEULS tavern, it is now Lofts. I used to have my own Business in Virginia Highland for 14 years. Where it was is where Murphy’s Deli is now. I could tell you all so much about ATLANTA. THE PLAZA DRUG STORE, MAJESTIC RESTURANT, DOBYS, THE OLD THEATER AND THE FOX THEATER, THE RIALTO DOWNTOWN AND THERE IS SO MUCH MORE PEOPLE WOULD BE SURPRIZED AT. ANYWAY,MY STORY IS BELOW. Email me back. Thanks, MARY ANNE
I do not know if this is of interest to you to post on your site or not. I was born and raised in ATLANTA and I am still here.
I am 58 years old and I was just dignosed with Breast cancer on October 23rd. I found this cancer myself after going for a routine mamogram in May. In early August I was taking a shower and I found this lump. Everything has be a downward spiral since then. My husband is disabled and in need of a liver transplant. His mel score they call it is not quite in the the range yet. He has Hep C due to a surgery he had int he early 80’s before they checked blood for HEP C. So he contracted it that way.
He is on disabilty and has been for three years now. I have been selling things on ebay to make ends meet. Things were going good til we were flooded by Hurricane Dennis July 11tth, 2005. We never actually recovered after that and I was very depressed and overwhelmed at the damage that water can do not only to your home but to your very spirit. Our story was all over the news and in papers all over the country when that happened. Everything I am saying here can be proven. I am an honest person and woudl never ask anyone for anything if I did not need help. My life might as well be an open book and I really do nto mind because my story is only one of many around this country that people do not realize happens everyday to folks. We as a society give money all the time to a lot of causes but we never know what really happens to it and if they ones that truley need it ever see it.
I have worked all my life and I now find myself at the bottom of a barrel so to speak. I waas struggling really hard to make ends meet and never complained I just kept on trying on ebay to sell things and then the news of this cancer hit me. I am extremly depressed and I have lost my spirit and I just feel like giving up. I owe money for gas, lights, house and I have no money for food. I have called about all the things you are supose to be able to get in the way of help paying gas, lights and housing and food and you get all these recordings and leave a message and we will call you back and on and on, …. and knowing that what you had heard all your life that was there if you ever needed help was out there, well it is not true. Not true I tell you. It makes you even more depressed than you were. Thank God when my cancer was found the state was able to get me what they call emergency medical card…(some form of medicaid) for my medical help. I have no insurance at all. All of my medical care will be paid for including my prescriptions. Yesterday, I had blood work done at an Oncologist office. Thursday I will have a EKG for my heart and Friday I Will have a bone scan. Then it is back to the Oncologist for an appointment to find out if my tests came out okay for CHEMO which the Dr. wants me to have 6 treatments 3 weeks apart before any surgery is done to remove the tumor and to remove 5 to 6 lymph nodes because the biopsy of a swollen node came back positive as well. Anyway, Ebay sales have slowed due to all these appointments. I only have less than 30.00 to my name and we are in dire straights and I do not know where to turn. I am scared, I feel like no one cares and I wanted to share this story with you to see if you thought maybe you could put the word out for us to see if people of this city may help us get through this if only for a few weeks. By then surely I woudl have been able to find the help I need. While you are waiting is what brings you down. I hope you will email me back and I can tell you more about my situation. All of everything I have told you here can be verified. I can add even more detail about how we got to where we are at. We do not drink or do drugs. My husband was an engineer. I was an acountant. We are good people but with an unfortunate series of events that have led us to the state we are end. I hope you can help us. Please email me back.
    Sincerely, MARY ANNE
I hope you will never ever have to walk in my shoes, nor any of your own family or friends. Life is not always easy.
    :o(
I am not asking for much. Any donations are appreciated. Food, and money for utilites is all we need. The utilities can be paid direct. Food can be bought and delivered. I don’t need cash, I just do not want my lights cut off again, and want to have gas to stay on for heat this winter and I do not want to go hungry. I am crying as I write this as It is so hurtful to be in a sutuation like this. I never dreamed this woudl happen to me. In time this shall pass and Chemo will be over and surgery and hopefully I will be somewhat well and maybe my cancer in remission. Thank you for your time.
The link I left is for my Carepage I have set up to try and get me through the treatments. If the link does not work to view my page go to the care page web page and my care page is called, MARYANNESPAGE
