Tiller’s Too Sexy for Church School

I’m not sure, but i think that a gaunt, horse-faced church lady (using that term loosely) just told me that Tiller’s skirt is too short.

“You know, at elementary school, they say the acceptable length is knee-length.”

She is wearing a jean skirt. She is three. What the fuck?* Does my daughter look like a hooker, or what?

*And yes, there is just a smidge of lingering resentment over the fact that girls in high school must abide by the knee-length rule unless they are cheerleaders, in which case it is apparently acceptable for those who can do a back handspring and spirit fingers to wear a skirt so short they are showing their ass to the entire school.

  • ohhhh– i am so with you. I got the “the girls must wear shorts under their dresses” rule which made me furious since they were wearing sundresses that were calf length for gods sake. I refuse to do it but every now and again the girls put them on themselves.

And in HS i had the same experience– and remember wearing baggy shorts to school one day in defiance of the “no shorts” (It’s freakin South Carolina!!) while the cheerleaders flauted their tushies. UGH. I hated high school.

  • I got sent home by Mrs. Purgason for my skirt being too short in 10th grade. I could do the back handsprings but not the spirit finger, well I do have one spirit finger. . .

  • I got sent home for having too short of a pair of shorts (that my very conservative mother had purchased) once. Never thought about the cheerleader angle, hm.

Heh. It’s pretty funny that they think that 3 year olds need to wear longer skirts. Because at that age, they still run around naked or pull their dresses up over their faces or yell “Mommy, come wipe my bottom” from the potty.

  • Possibly the fact that they pull their dresses up over their head is reason for them needing shorts underneath? I don’t know. To me, they are just kids and not sexual beings, so what is the big deal. Tiller isn’t wearing shorts under her dresses, that’s for sure.

  • That the hell ever. She’s 3. And near as I can tell not in elementary school yet. I’d send her in hot pants next time. ;)
