A Walk in the Woods: Rediscovering America on the Appalachian Trail by Bill Bryson
My review
rating: 3 of 5 stars
I really like Bryson’s writing style. It reminded me of Tony Horowitz’s style. I bet they are buddies.
His descriptions of being in nature were spot-on, his weaving of history of the trail and nature conservancy in the U.S. with his and katz’s journey and friendship was well-written.
Overall, I enjoyed it. My biggest problem with it (spoiler alert!), though, was my disappointment with them stepping off the trail and not completing the Thru-Hike. There was a little part of me that turned on him at that point.
All in all, a great book for someone like me who has always wanted to do the AT.
