I really, really wanted to write a full on post about the weekend we went to Iain’s art show in Opelika’s Railyard, but if I waited until i had time, it would never get written. So, instead, i shall post the photos and be done with it. Iain is one of Todd’s best friends, and he’s a really great watercolorist. He and his wife, Noelle, live in Opelika, near Auburn. Pretty cool.
So, we went to Opelika, and we had lots of fun. Here’s the evidence. (And I have way more photos, for the Auburn peeps. If you want to see them, let me know and I’ll email you a link.)
- Here is a photo of me. Todd took the camera, so i look uncomfortable, having the tables turned on me.
- Outside the Railyard, there were these big moravian stars. Love them.
- Downtown Opelika at dusk.
- Flags outside a business. I just liked that one flag wasn’t enough for them.
- Wherein I turned the camera on Todd.
- On the sidewalk looking in. This was just one part of the show. It went on and on.
- These aren’t Iain’s, but i thought they were great, too.
- I was so happy for Iain that there was such a great turnout!
- There were two other artists showing that night. One did that awesome cat portrait, and the other did these really great pop culture paintings.
- That’s not the real title. How awesome is he?
- Noelle and Fiona. Love them.
- Iain, the Artiste
- Scott, Jess, and Ash. First time meeting the little man. I got to hold him. Ash, not Scott.
- Isn’t Jess beautiful?
- Oh. Here are the names of the other artists.
- Wish you could see this up close. One of the skaters has a skinned knee. This thing is huge, too.
- Guy named Neil. I struck up a conversation with him and he does sound for Standard Deluxe, and we talked Shovels and Rope. Muir thought he looked like some guy from The Lovin’ Spoonful.
- Part of the crowd at the stage area.
- Not sure why there was a racecar in the middle of the warehouse, but i thought it was funny.
- Yes, there were bands.
- The crowd was quite subdued at first. They loosened up later.
- I went outside at one point to watch the train go by. I love trains, and have missed them so, ever since living near the tracks off Pulaski in Athens.
- And here folks are, later in the evening, hanging outside.
- This place was huge. In addition to the different spaces, there is also a courtyard area (formerly loading docks) and these lights were strung and it was quite magical.
- This chick was pretty awesome. I’d like to see you sing while simultaneously playing the washboard and a kick drum.
- Lisa and I did not get the “Tomato Red” memo.
- I really, really wanted to climb this ladder and check out the roof, but todd forbade it. (haha. Yeah right. I was just too chicken, knowing it would be messy coming back down.)
- High school friends, all growed up.
- The artist and his muse.
- If I had a dollar for every time Matt made this gesture at me while we discussed SEC football or politics, I would be a rich woman indeed.
- Sweet girls.
- I never see Shannon anymore, now that she has a bambino. I love her. We have fun together.
Hoping to post some photos of our family road trip soon, whenever I get caught up in life.
